Anyone here write every day? I’ve tried a few times to follow in Hermeto Pascoal’s footsteps. I find it hard to stick to the discipline..most tunes I’ve written have a long gestation.
I can read and write traditionally, but for expediency, these days I just play either keyboards or guitar straight into Logic Pro and write lines based on what I improvise.
Sometimes I might steal a Charlie Parker or Coltrane lick I’ve transcribed and try to mutate it into something to fit a chord progression I’ve already written.
I write a little every day without judging the value of it. Just to keep the wheel spinning. Right now I try to revisit these lines/chord progression etc to make something out of it... We'll see... ;-)
Iain Carleton no, it is hand writen in music book. One of my chalenge is to put in place the thing I had in mind then. It is a kind of meditation for me.
