On the tablet and phone I use Tempo (metronome) that’s about it! I’ve tried iReal Pro but have decided I prefer to play unaccompanied if I can’t play with people. Now and again I’ll fire up Drumgenius a or iTablaPro for a more interesting thing to play over, mostly though as I said, the metronome is just fine. If you’re interested in computer apps I use Transcribe! a lot. I also use Sibelius if I need to write and Logic Pro x if I need to record.

I use Transcribe! also. It's great. I also have iReal Pro on the computer (as well as the phone/tablet) and I do use it from time to time, but like you seemingly less and less. I'm still using GarageBand to record because my recording needs have been very simple, but I am doing a trial of Logic and can see that even with simple needs it might be worth paying for. My notation needs are also pretty simple and so far I have just been using MuseScore,

Larry I must say ipractice pro sounds interesting in its adaptability. I'll check it out.

Mike Bryant I wasn't familiar with Tessitura. Looks like you could really get lost in that app! Have they been doing any updates? I noticed a couple people commented in the reviews that they wondered if it had been abandoned by the developer.

For sure - you can get lost with the amount of toys out there. Pick a couple of them and try to not let them distract your playing. They should make you a better writer and/or player! Of course, I don't practice what I preach and have wasted many a fun and frustrating hour with the toys!
